The story of ‘300’ Spartans is well known, although very few know of the innovation that led to their success
The Spartan’s greatest development was the ARGIVE GRIP. It placed the handle at the edge of the shield, and was supported by a leather fastening at the center for their forearm. These two points of contact created leverage and eliminated the possibility of the shield swaying to the side after being struck. Shields were rarely lost.
The ARGIVE GRIP enabled mobility with the shield, strengthened unit formation, and led to the victory of ‘300’ Spartans
